Packing it all in – CRA expands in the Northeast with the Acquisition of Maguire Equipment
October 21, 2025
Phoenix, AZ – Compactor Rentals of America, LLC (“CRA”), a portfolio company of Kinderhook Industries, LLC, announced today the acquisition of Maguire Equipment Inc. (“Maguire”). Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The Maguire acquisition represents CRA’s third follow-on acquisition since forming its partnership with Kinderhook in January 2024 and further supports CRA’s strategy to accelerate growth as a national, waste solutions platform.
Founded in 1970 and headquartered in Readville, Massachusetts, Maguire is a leading provider of waste-handling equipment, rentals, and services, serving a deep customer base across New England. The acquisition provides CRA with a foothold in the Greater Boston area – a strategic market with significant opportunity for continued expansion. Maguire is a proud provider of Marathon Equipment and will continue offering the same high-quality products and service post-close.
“We are thrilled to welcome Maguire to the CRA family,” said Kelly Williams, Chief Executive Officer of CRA. “This acquisition adds strategic scale in a critical region and deepens our presence in a major metropolitan area. Maguire shares CRA’s commitment to delivering clean, efficient, and sustainable waste solutions to our customers.”
In conjunction with the acquisition of Maguire, CRA completed the sale of Maguire’s compactor and baler service division to a specialized service provider. Going forward, customers can expect the same high-quality support previously offered by Maguire, with CRA continuing to provide rental equipment and new equipment sales across the Greater Boston area, and the buyer of the service business maintaining service and maintenance operations. This structure ensures a seamless transition for customers while allowing CRA to focus on expanding its core rental platform.
Sidley Austin LLP served as legal counsel to Kinderhook and CRA on the acquisition of Maguire Equipment Inc. A Comerica Bank led syndicate provided debt financing for the transaction.
