Building Northeast Ohio’s C&D Platform: Kinderhook Acquires Pete & Pete Container Service and Boyas Recycling
July 20, 2026
New York, NY – Kinderhook Industries, LLC (“Kinderhook”) announced today the acquisition of Pete & Pete Container Service and Boyas Recycling & Excavating (together, “Pete & Pete” or the “Company”), a vertically integrated construction and demolition (“C&D”) waste collection, recycling, and disposal platform serving Northeast Ohio. Pete & Pete represents Kinderhook’s 6th platform investment in the firm’s $2.75 billion Fund 8, which was raised in 2024.
Founded and operated by the Ristagno family, Pete & Pete has built a strong reputation for reliability and service across the Cleveland market. Boyas operates a material recovery facility (“MRF”) and a permitted C&D landfill, giving the combined Company control of the full value chain – from collection at the jobsite, through recovery and recycling of marketable materials, to final disposal. This vertical integration of collection, processing, and internalized disposal underpins the durability of the platform and its position in one of the country’s most attractive C&D markets.
“Our family has spent decades building Pete & Pete and Boyas into businesses our customers and our community can count on,” said Pete Ristagno Jr., Founder and CEO of the Company. “We are proud of what our team has built and are excited to partner with Kinderhook to carry that legacy forward and accelerate our next phase of growth.”
Pete Ristagno Jr. and his leadership team will remain with the Company and continue to lead its day-to-day operations, ensuring continuity for customers and employees following the transaction.
“Pete & Pete and Boyas have demonstrated consistent, disciplined growth and built one of the strongest C&D platforms in the Midwest. The Company’s vertically integrated model and internalized disposal give it a defensible position in an attractive market, and we are thrilled to build on that momentum alongside the Ristagno family and the management team,” said Rob Michalik, Managing Director at Kinderhook.
“We look forward to partnering with Pete and his team to support the Company’s continued growth, expand its footprint across the region, and grow into new markets through strategic acquisitions.” added Cor Carruthers, Managing Director at Kinderhook.
Kirkland & Ellis LLP served as legal counsel to Kinderhook. Comerica Securities, Inc. served as financial advisor to the Company.
