Hudson, WI – All States Ag Parts, LLC (“ASAP” or the “Company”), a portfolio company of Kinderhook Industries, LLC (“Kinderhook”), announced today the acquisition of John F. Mahaney Company (“Mahaney”), a Sacramento, CA-based distributor of professional-grade tools and supplies to the agricultural and industrial markets. Mahaney represents the second add-on acquisition for ASAP and Kinderhook’s 73rd acquisition in the automotive aftermarket.
Mahaney has been in operation for over 65 years. Its customer base includes hardware and farm supply stores, feed stores, auto parts stores, large growers, government accounts, and industrial contractors. The company is a wholesale distributor of farm, ranch, garden, and industrial supplies from well-known brand manufacturers and has also launched its own Red Rooster Professional Tools brand, which has seen rapid growth in recent years.
The purchase will represent ASAP’s tenth retail location and first location in California. Over time, ASAP plans to expand the product line currently available to Mahaney customers. In addition to providing the first ASAP California location, the acquisition strengthens the Company’s emerging wholesale division and provides ASAP with manufacturing capability for Mahaney’s popular Red Rooster Tools brand, a line of professional-grade agricultural hand tools.
“This is a great acquisition for ASAP,” said John Dyke, CEO. “We’re happy to be in the heart of California’s agricultural area and look forward to serving the farms, vineyards, and orchards there.” Mr. Dyke also noted that Steve Mahaney, previously a co-owner of Mahaney, will stay on board to manage the Sacramento operation.
Paul Cifelli, Managing Director of Kinderhook, commented, “We are excited to bring Mahaney into the ASAP fold. The combination of the two companies provides ASAP with a footprint in a robust agricultural region where it can better serve farmers on the West Coast, while Mahaney customers will benefit from the expanded product offerings and distribution capabilities that ASAP brings to the table.”
Monroe Moxness Berg served as legal counsel to ASAP.
